Friday October 22, 1-5pm Ann Pigneri, McTavishing certified instructor
Learn the basic McTavishing method, mini-McTavishing and Cyclone McTavishing on a home sewing machine, plus flames, paisleys and curls and swirls with a McTavishing twist. Enhance your quilts with these wonderful machine quilting techniques! If you stitch on a midarm or long arm machine the techniques are the same, and your class knowledge will easily transfer to your machine.
SUPPLY LIST
McTavishing & Beyond Instructor: Ann Pigneri
REQUIRED SUPPLIES:
Sewing Machine: with all machine quilting feet and basic sewing and machine quilting supplies. i.e. extension table if you have one.
Book: Mastering the Art of McTavishing
Fabric: 3 fabric and batting sandwiches, securely pinned or sprayed together
- One 20-22" square with pattern drawn on it - see "preparation for the class" below (you'll need to get the pattern from Shiisa Quilts - if you register online and don't come in to the shop, we'll mail it to you!)
- Two 20" x 27"
Tools & Notions:
24" ruler - at least 6" wide erasable marking pencil or pen to mark on fabric - please be sure you can see it on your fabric Thread -- Bottom Line or Silk #100
- Thread that matches/blends into the fabric sandwiches
- Slightly darker or contrasting color thread that will show up a little more for the feathers
60/8 Microtex sharp needles Unlined paper - computer paper is fine - bring a stack! Pens that write well Machingers (if you use them)
Preparation for class: Choose one of the two designs (pick them up at the shop!). If you prefer to freehand your feathers, choose the circles. If you prefer to stitch already marked feathers, choose the pattern with the feathers. Whichever design you choose, please transfer it onto the fabric in its entirety, i.e., include the centering designs and the circles.
